Description

Since 1966, Ovation has been making their famous roundback guitars after discovering that the flat back of an acoustic guitar actually hindered the balance and projection of the instrument. The roundback design improved projection, offered better tonal balance from bass through treble, and made for a stronger and more rugged instrument. Applause ukuleles also make use of Ovation’s innovative roundback design, helping the gorgeous little Applause Ukuleles gain worldwide popularity. And no wonder – the roundback body is particularly effective in projecting the midrange and bright tones of the uke, giving it surprising volume and clarity.

Review:

A beautiful looking instrument; I was seduced by how different this looks. In a band of 10 ukulele players I want to stand out
The first one sent had an unpleasant buzz on the G but the swift replacement was fine. I think it will need amplification. It sounds nice but not as loud as my standard uke. I wouldn't recommend the acoustic only version for that reason
