Iconic American Acoustic
If you spend even a few minutes with Gibson’s J-45 Vintage, you will certainly hear and feel why this iconic acoustic earned the nickname Workhorse when it was first introduced in 1942. It has a beefy, balanced tone that is truly one of a kind. The Gibson J-45 Vintage is built from Thermally Aged Adirondack red spruce on its top and rich mahogany for its back, sides, and neck. A rosewood fingerboard and Vintage Round neck profile make this neck instantly comfortable in the hands. Acoustic enthusiasts here at Sweetwater consider the Gibson J-45 Vintage to be among the truly great acoustics the American luthier tradition has designed.
An Acoustic with a Story
From Woody Guthrie to Bob Dylan, the J-45 has been in the hands of many of the greatest musical artists around the world. Its famous round-shoulder design continues to be a favorite among acoustic players due to its comfort while both standing and sitting. The J-45 Vintage is Plek'd for a flawless playing experience out of the case, and remains a favorite for both fingerpickers and flatpickers in the folk, country, and bluegrass traditions, who find its action and smooth fretting supremely responsive and tonally fluid.
Vintage Details
The Gibson J-45 Vintage is a faithful re-creation of the earliest iteration of the J-45 with its banner headstock silk-screened with the phrase “Only a Gibson is Good Enough," mother-of-pearl dot inlays, rosewood belly-up bridge, Gotoh Relic Aged tuners, and traditional hand-scalloped X-bracing with hot hide glue. Taken together, all these vintage details bring the past into the present and give you, the player, a beautifully unique playing experience.
