What Reidys say...
"The new Fender American Pro series also sees the arrival of updated Precision and Jazz basses. Like their six-string counterparts, the main feature of these basses are the new pickups; carefully designed and calibrated for ultimate tone. Both the American Pro P-Bass and the Pro Jazz bass also have new, upgraded tuners - Fender say that these optimise the break angle between the post and the nut, increasing the sustain - great. My take on it is that your bass is likely to hold its tuning better. Other upgrades include the Elite hardcase, redesigned neck profiles and narrow tall frets.
When the Jazz bass came into production in the 1960s, it had a thinner neck profile than the P-Bass and the new Fender American Pro series reflects this nicely. The new Jazz has a really comfortable slim modern C neck profile - great for nailing those speedy Joe Dart-esque funk licks down. Pickup wise, in true Fender American Pro fashion, it's got blended alnico V-Mod single coils, with both positions providing a little more clarity than the previous American Standard. It's exactly what you want a modern Jazz bass to be - great fun to play, practical and bursting with character."

Welcome to the Next Chapter
At Fender, we live and breathe electric
instruments. We never rest, pushing
craftsmanship to its limits, we design, test
and endlessly experiment to create the best
instruments on the planet. The Jazz Bass,
a refinement of concepts first introduced in
the Precision Bass, is the earliest example of
this philosophy in action. Evolved for today's
musician, the American Professional Jazz Bass
combines modern features and materials with
Fender's craftsmanship and expertise to produce
a truly contemporary bass.
Speedy, powerful and articulate, the Jazz Bass
quickly carved out a niche for itself when it was
released in 1960. The slim, ultra-fast neck and
slick offset-waist styling made it a favorite of
bassists everywhere. Funk, fusion, disco and,
of course, modern rock all owe a life debt to the
fantastically versatile Jazz Bass.
Developed by pickup master Michael Bump,
the brand-new V
-Mod single-coil Jazz Bass
pickups use a carefully selected blend of alnico
magnet types for balanced tone with authentic
Fender sonic DNA. Designed for comfort and
performance, the slim modern "C"-shaped neck
profile feels just right nestled in your hand,
becoming one with you, while the narrow-tall
frets provide a familiar playing feel and perfect
intonation. Posiflex graphite support rods run
the length of the neck, adding stability to the neck
while resisting warping. The redesigned tuning
machines use a fluted shaft, creating the optimum
break angle over the nut while keeping the string
windings tight for increased sustain and enhanced
tuning stability.
The best of yesterday and today
, the American
Professional Jazz Bass is the latest form of
electric inspiration from Fender. Step up and
stake your claim to a legend.
New Pickups
V-Mod Jazz Bass pickups are modified versions of our classic vintage pickup
designs. Packed with the fundamental Fender bass sound you know and love,
these single-coil pickups crank out high-output tone with vintage warmth and the
crisp, clear sound that made Fender a legend.
Slim "Modern C" Neck Profile
This instrument features a modern neck designed for comfort and performance,
with a slim, modern "C"-shaped profile (the shape of the neck in cross section),
9.5" fingerboard radius and narrow-tall frets.
Narrow-Tall Frets
Narrow-tall frets are taller and narrower than their medium jumbo cousins,
making them especially effective for bending notes and playing chords up the
neck with perfect intonation.
HiMass Vintage Bridge
Channel the early days of Fender in a thoroughly modern instrument thanks to
the vintage-style HiMass bass bridge with single-groove saddles, offering an
authentic vintage look with plenty of stability and sustain.
New Fluted Tuners
Wider at the top than the bottom, the fluted shafts force the string windings
downward and keep them tight, resulting in a sharper and consistent break angle
over the nut, creating increased sustain and better tuning stability.
Posiflex Graphite Rods
All American Professional bass necks incorporate Posiflex graphite rods to
reinforce against movement that can occur with fluctuations the environment.
Embedded beneath the fingerboard, they improve reliability on the road, in the
studio or in your home.
New Hardshell Case
The Elite Molded Case features body-hugging contours to protect your cherished
instrument, TSA latches for increased security and nested stacking ability for easy
storage and secure transport.
