What Reidys say...
First off, let's get this out of the way - I'm a massive Muse fan. One of the first albums I listened to start to finish was Origin of Symmetry and songs like New Born and Citizen Erased completely blew my mind. When I first watched HAARP, the 2007 Live DVD shot at Wembley Stadium, I immediately became intrigued by the guitars Matt Bellamy was using. Determined to find out what guitars they were, I did extensive Googling and finally tracked down the Manson MB-1. "Perfect", I thought, "how do I buy one of these?" It was then I realised, £4000 was £3980 more than I had to my name. I knew I'd never get that guitar.
Fast forward to now and it seems Manson Guitars have made what the younger Alex always dreamt of, a Matt Bellamy guitar that I wouldn't need to raid Fort Knox to afford. Designed in collaboration between Manson and Cort, this new guitar is a dream to play. With a comfortable neck, ergonomic body and a powerful pair of humbuckers, it's ready for whatever you throw at it! This guitar is such fun to play, putting it down gives me Stockholm syndrome...
Cort has teamed up with Matthew Bellamy, the frontman and lead guitarist of Muse, and Manson Guitar Works to develop an all-new signature model that is built to Matthew's exact and demanding specifications. The result is a superb rock guitar with a big full tone and rock-solid feel without the boutique price. This exciting model features a specially designed set of pickups from Manson and a discrete kill button to create unique sonic textures.
Manson Guitar Works is an internationally respected custom guitar builder in the U.K. that has been working with Matthew Bellamy for over two decades. Founded by highly respected luthier Hugh Manson and CEO Adrian Ashton, the company has built instruments for a wide range of global superstars.
The MBM-1 is equipped with pickups developed by Manson Guitar Works especially for this guitar. The versatile setup includes fully voiced humbuckers in the neck and bridge positions reflecting the layout of several of Bellamy’s stage and studio custom instruments.
The controls on the MBM-1 are simple while versatile. There is a single volume control, master tone and a three way switch. This controls the 2 humbucker pickup combination. It all works together with the kill button and the overall instrument design to give you a highly creative and great sounding instrument.
The MBM-1 features a discrete kill button allowing you to creatively expand the wide range of sounds already available.
The deluxe locking machine heads offer precise and reliable tuning as well as easier and quicker string changes.
The Manson neck profile and shape has consistently received praise around the globe in many five star reviews. To maintain that competitive edge the new MBM-1 features the Manson soft V profile with a satin finish to give an immediate played-in feel. It’s the reason we refer to it as Meta Series; what has gone before was of excellence, but our philosophy is to transcend to a better product whilst referencing everything that existed before.
The body styling on the MS Series guitars was designed by Hugh Manson, with him considering each detail for these instruments. Both comfort and appearance was enhanced with an elegantly contoured arm cut on the top. The back has a tummy cut as a key comfort evolution feature. This modification to the back has been carefully laid out on the bodies of the MS guitars for maximum comfort without removing unnecessary amounts of wood. The lines of the Manson designed body are graceful for aesthetic beauty as well as for ergonomic considerations.
The spoke nut hotrod truss rod ensures smooth and precise setting of the neck bow. Often overlooked by many guitarists, the neck bow (or relief) is very critical for the best possible playability. This new truss rod adjustment feature allows the player to dial in the exact amount of neck bow depending the player’s technique and playing style. Whether you are a legato fusion player with a light touch or a Texas blues master who digs hard into the strings in the lower register, this new truss rod will allow you to dial in the exact amount of bow to suit your style.
