What Reidys say...
"The SE range of PRS guitars provides players with superb playability, amazing build quality, impeccable sound and beautiful finishes - all the while keeping an eye on the price. SE stands for 'Student Edition', though these are much more than that! If you're just starting to play the guitar, something like this will be a great one to get you going, however you'll also see them in the hands of professionals (Joe Walsh uses one with The Eagles sometimes, for example). These SE models are made in the far east, to an amazing standard and each one comes shipped with a nice padded gigbag. The quality really is impressive on these SE models - come in and try one out!
This is the first time we’ve seen hollowbodies in the SE range, so we’re very excited about these! Everything about this guitar screams class - from the bound and gently contoured body, to the translucent finish that shows off the grain of the wood; it looks like a guitar that’s at least double its price. The SE Hollowbody Standard is vintage-inspired; its 22 frets and simple control layout will feel familiar and the pickups give you a lovely, rich old-school tone. They’re relatively low-output, being loosely based on humbuckers from the late 50s and nicely complement the hollow construction - they allow the resonance of the instrument to really be heard through the amp.
What’s the difference between the Hollowbody Standard and the Hollowbody II?
Both guitars have the same body shape, pickups, hardware, scale, frets and neck profile - in fact, they’re almost identical however there’s one difference that will make an impact on your tone. The Hollowbody Standard’s body is made completely from mahogany, whereas the Hollowbody II has a maple top and back, with mahogany sides. This means that the Standard is going to have a warmer, and slightly mellower sound, and the Hollowbody II will be a bit brighter, with more of an attack and snap. One way to figure out which one is right for you is to come down and try both out!"

Resonant Organic Voice
The SE Hollowbody Standard features an all-mahogany body with hollow construction for a warm, resonant tone. The 22-fret wide fat neck, adjustable stoptail bridge, and 58/15 “S” pickups further promote the SE Hollowbody Standard’s big, clear, balanced voice. This vintage-inspired instrument combines the power and stability of a solid-body electric guitar with the captivating, resonance of a hollowbody instrument, making the SE Hollowbody Standard at home with players of all styles.
