What Reidys say...
"The SE range of PRS guitars provides players with superb playability, amazing build quality, impeccable sound and beautiful finishes - all the while keeping an eye on the price. SE stands for 'Student Edition', though these are much more than that! If you're just starting to play the guitar, something like this will be a great one to get you going, however you'll also see them in the hands of professionals (Joe Walsh uses one with The Eagles sometimes, for example). These SE models are made in Korea, to an amazing standard. They've got a mahogany body topped with a piece of maple, as is traditional for this style of guitar, and each one comes shipped with a nice padded gigbag. The quality really is impressive on these SE models - come in and try one out!
PRS’s roster of artists is pretty eclectic. On one end you’ve got Latin jazz fusion master, Carlos Santana, and on the other the end you’ve got the likes of prog-metal riffer, Mark Holcomb. This is the latter’s signature model (though I wouldn’t mind seeing Santana play one of these too…). It’s one of the coolest looking guitars out there, with its own Holcomb Burst finish and black chrome hardware. The guitar is fitted with Mark’s own Seymour Duncan signature pickups - Alpha and Omega. As you’d expect, they deal with lots of gain really well, but there’s more to them than just distortion. The bridge is clear, bright and articulate and the neck has a nice glassy quality to it, that really shines through a clean amp. Basically, you can cover a lot of ground with this guitar, and look pretty amazing whilst doing so. It’s got a slightly longer 25.5” scale, and comes shipped in ubiquitous prog-metal tuning; drop C."

The band Periphery has become a force to be reckoned with in the progressive metal scene thanks to their complex rhythms and soaring melodies. Guitarist Mark Holcomb helps achieve this full, lethal sound with his PRS guitars and signature Seymour Duncan Alpha and Omega pickups. PRS and Holcomb have worked closely together to develop a truly unique guitar for the SE Series lineup.
"With my SE signature model, we managed to capture all of the defining characteristics of my Maryland-made guitar and turn it into a streamlined, less-costly package. It is an incredibly special instrument, and one that is now the primary focus of my rig in the studio and onstage." - Mark Holcomb, Periphery
The SE Mark Holcomb model truly stands on its own in the PRS lineup and delivers addictive playability thanks to some unique specifications, including a 24-fret, 25.5” scale length wide thin satin maple neck with 20” radius ebony fretboard. Holcomb’s signature pickups provide the right amount of output and articulation whether you’re playing sophisticated chords or solos and whether you’re playing alone or working in the mix of a band. Other specifications include a quilted maple veneer, black chrome hardware, and a 3-way blade pickup switch with push/pull tone knob for coil splitting.
