The Taylor 114ce features the Grand Auditorium body shape. This is Taylor's quintessential body shape and acts as a sort of swiss army knife in that it does it all; flatpicking, lead lines, fingerpicking, driving rhythm and more. The large lower bout lends more bass and projection, and the narrow waist and shoulders give the guitar great string to string balance and note separation. If you want just one acoustic guitar to take to a gig - this could well be it!As per the whole Taylor 100 series, the 114ce represents incredible value for money. It's got a solid sitka spruce top; one of the great classic tone woods for acoustic guitars. The layered walnut back and sides provide a nice tonal balance, and deal well with changes in temperature making the Taylor 114ce a very road-worthy guitar. The 'ce' in the model number means that it has a venetian style cutaway - this improves access to the higher frets on the treble side and makes for a really fun guitar to play.
What Taylor say....
The Taylor 114ce is a cutaway acoustic/electric Grand Auditorium that blends layered walnut back and sides with a solid Sitka spruce top, making it a great all-around acoustic that responds well to strumming, flatpicking and fingerpicking.
It's fun to explore the unique sonic flavors and textures of a nylon-string guitar. The Grand Auditorium 114ce-N serves up an inviting option, blending legendary Taylor playability with clear, balanced acoustic tone. The guitar is strung with D Addarios Pro-Arte Carbon Hard Tension strings, which feature carbon treble strings and Dynacore composite core bass strings. These blend the musicality of a traditional gut string with a richer, louder modern voice that players will love. The guitars layered walnut back and sides are paired with a solid Sitka spruce top, and modern amenities include a cutaway and onboard ES-N electronics, plus a convenient gig bag for easy portability. However you plan to use it, a nylon-string guitar will make an inspiring addition to your acoustic toolbox..
Taylor’s signature shape embodies the ultimate all-purpose acoustic.
The soundboard choice for most guitars, Sitka spruce produces a broad dynamic range and accommodates a versatile range of playing styles.
Walnut’s crisp highs are balanced by a deep, woody low end that emerges as the guitar is played in.
This under-saddle transducer was designed for Taylor nylon-string models.
The Venetian cutaway is known for its soft, round lines. The sloping peak of the cutaway will vary depending on the shape of the guitar.
