"The Taylor Academy series is the company's most affordable range of full size guitars yet. You can get a great quality instrument that's amazing for beginners (and will impress seasoned players along the way) with a nice, clear tone. Taylor's idea behind the Academy series was to create 'the best, for the most, with the least' - basically, to create the best instrument that will cater for as many players, by using the least resources to keep the cost down.
The Taylor Academy guitars are simple - if something doesn't really need to be there, it's not there. The result is an elegant range of guitars that play nicely, with great intonation. The necks are sleek and they're fitted with light gauge strings to make it that bit easier for beginners. The armrest makes it comfortable to play, but also allows the top of the guitar to resonate.
The lineup consists of the Taylor A10 - dreadnought, A12 - grand concert, and the A12-N - grand concert with nylon strings. All three of the Taylor Academy body shapes feature a solid spruce top and laminate back and sides to give a clear and responsive sound. This particular model is the nylon string concert model - you'll be hard-pressed to find another nylon string guitar of this quality at this price. The nylon strings lend the guitar a really nice, mellow sound and also are a little softer on the players fingers. This, along with the neck design and smaller body make for a great option for a beginner who wants a really good quality instrument to get going with. It's also a nice option for someone who already plays and wants another reliable instrument with a different sort of sound. It's available with a pickup too."
Richard Blenkinsop, Guitar Expert
This acoustic nylon-string Grand Concert from Taylors Academy Series may be the best nylon-string guitar you'll find for the money. The underlying design goal of the series is to make the acoustic guitar accessible to more players by bringing Taylor's legendary playability and tone into an affordable price range. One of the benefits of a nylon-string guitar is that the light string tension is easy on the fingertips. Another inviting feature is a built-in armrest to enhance the playing comfort.
Tonally, the wood pairing of layered sapele back and sides with a solid Lutz spruce top, together with the body's internal bracing, project a warm, mellow nylon voice with crisp percussive appeal that suits a variety of musical styles and responds well to both fingerpicking and flatpicking. Whether you're a steel-string player looking to add an affordable nylon-string to your acoustic toolbox or crave a great-sounding acoustic guitar that's easy on the hands and the wallet, the A12-N is an option well worth exploring.
The Academy Series - Making a Taylor Guitar More Accessible
One of the biggest reasons why new guitar players give up is the lack of a quality instrument. High action, bad intonation or cruddy sound will quickly derail the playing experience. That's why we poured our guitar design expertise into developing our new Academy Series guitars. The goal was to remove all the barriers that get in the way, from feel to sound to cost. The result is a guitar that's easy on the hands and helps you sound great from your first strum. Our Academy Series guitars will inspire everyone from beginners to seasoned players looking for a great guitar at a great price.

Delivery charges displayed apply to most UK mainland addresses. Deliveries to Northern Ireland, UK non-mainland, and European addresses will cost more, and carriage charges will be shown at the checkout before you place your order. Free delivery offers may not apply to some remote/Scottish Highlands addresses.
