The Best Beginner's flute available.
If you’re looking for a truly superb ‘first’ instrument, or perhaps you’re returning to the flute after a long break the TJ5X is for you. And the best thing is, it’s incredibly good value.
Designed by the multi award-winning British company, Trevor James ®, the 5x is the younger sibling of the award-winning 10x flute. The 10x was designed to offer the very finest build quality and features at a remarkably affordable price, and this philosophy is carried over into the 5x.
"From the first note, it was clear that this was an amazing flute – the sounds that were coming out of it were more akin to a step-up flute and it was a real joy to play."

Trevor James ® are a specialist wind instrument company, focussing a great amount of their time and effort on encouraging more people to experience the joys of flute and saxophone. It’s with this goal in mind that the 5x flute was created.
Why shouldn't i buy the cheapest flute i can find online?
Many entry-level flutes are simply poor and supplied as ‘white goods’ in a plain box with an obscure brand name from large catalogue stores or online retailers. You can be sure that 99% these flutes have not been checked by a professional flautist since (or probably even before) they were loaded into a shipping container in Asia. This lack of quality and expertise often results in the new player not being able to make progress as well as they should, and in some cases, these entry-level flutes just make playing outright impossible.
Not so with the Trevor James 5x Flute Outfit.
A guarantee of quality and playability.
Not only are TJ flutes made in workshops that specialise in Woodwind Instruments, but each Trevor James 5x Flute gets a final inspection and set-up in the TJ technical workshops based in Kent, south-east England.
Your teacher will thank you for turning up to the lesson with a properly functioning instrument! They won’t have to waste any valuable lesson time adjusting or setting up your flute. You’ll be ready to play from the get-go.
Plus your new flute won’t spend its first few weeks of life in a repair shop, at your expense.
"While playing, I found out that it trills a charm – I really cannot understate how lovely it sounds. I was genuinely quite sad to pack it away and send it back!"

Most UK deliveries are shipped by our trusted courier, DPD. You'll receive an email with a delivery day, tracking and a one hour estimated delivery window on the morning of delivery. While we can't specify the time of the delivery, if it's not convenient, you can arrange directly with DPD for an alternative delivery date or request the parcel be left with a neighbour.
For heavier items, we usually ship UK deliveries by TNT. You will receive an email with tracking details when we ship your order.
Delivery to mainland UK addresses is free on all orders over £99. Delivery charges are based on the size and weight of your order and, in some cases, your location. A standard next working day carriage charge for UK mainland addresses is shown on the shopping basket page, but you can change delivery service later in the checkout.
We use a few different delivery couriers, depending on the items being sent, your location, and the delivery service you've chosen:
Most orders will need to be signed for and we advise you make sure to check your parcel/s for any damage before signing. If no-one is available at your address, a card will be left so you can arrange a re-delivery directly with the courier. Redirection of an order after it's been dispatched may incur an extra charge from the courier.
Delivery charges displayed apply to most UK mainland addresses. Deliveries to Northern Ireland, UK non-mainland, and European addresses will cost more, and carriage charges will be shown at the checkout before you place your order. Free delivery offers may not apply to some remote/Scottish Highlands addresses.
