Founded in 1985 by Paul Reed Smith, PRS are relative newcomers to the world of guitars, however they’ve established themselves as one of the biggest players in the game. PRS are known for their clear, high-definition sound, great playability and beautiful finishes. You’ll see PRS guitars in the hands of metal, country, rock and jazz players alike, thanks to their functionality and versatility. They also offer signature models from the likes of John Mayer, Mark Tremonti, Carlos Santana, Mark Holcomb, and more.
PRS’s flagship range is their Core Line - these are all built in America, using high-quality components, every step of the way. These guitars are an absolute joy to play, plus they sound incredible on stage and in the studio. The quintessential PRS, and the one the Paul first took to the trade shows in the mid-80s is the Custom 24, so called because of its 24 frets; play one of these and it will tell you everything you need to know about the company. More recently, the McCarty 594 has become a fan-favourite, blending vintage sounds with modern functionality.
For those that want a really special instrument, PRS also offer Wood Library and Private Stock guitars. Every piece of wood that arrives into the PRS factory in Maryland is graded - the wood graded the highest is reserved for these guitars, resulting in breathtaking and unique instruments. As incredible as they sound and play, these guitars are also beautiful pieces of art.
PRS also have their S2 range - these are made in America, in the same factory as their Core Line and Private Stocks, however, some of the parts used may be built elsewhere, making them more affordable, but still great quality. There’s also the incredibly popular SE range - these are built in Korea and allow players on more of a budget to get the famed PRS sound and look. One of our most popular guitars is the SE Custom 24. More recently, PRS have introduced the SE Standard range at an even more affordable price-point.
