The main reasons to buy a Taylor nylon strung guitar are the same reasons you would buy one of their steel string offerings; playability, stability and range of tones. Traditionally, a Classical guitar is built without a truss rod. This means that the guitar has a shelf life as the tension of the strings will eventually pull the action so that it becomes unplayable. This isn’t the case with a Taylor Nylon. They use their NT neck system alongside a truss rod inside the neck to offer the stability and strength needed for their guitars to last more than a lifetime.
Another way that they have moved away from a more traditional Classical build is in their nut width. Usually, Classical guitars will have a 2” nut width, which can be pretty difficult to play because it is so wide. Taylor builds its Nylon guitars with a much more comfortable 1 ⅞” nut width and a slim neck carve, making it a lot easier to play.
